I would like to use said brush myself. Can you soak an antique silver brush in peroxide? They usually are silver or silver plate, the bristles are usually natural hair, and it's usually set in wood.
If not peroxide, do you know of any other way to get said brush clean of many years' dirt?
I have a 12 place setting, sterling silver flatware set from the 1930s, Oneida's "King Cedric".
It's been appraised at about 000.
In the research I've done so far, the most expensive one that sold is around 60 on ebay. So ebay's not the way to go on expensive items apparently.
Does anyone know a good place to sell these and get a price around the 000 (or close to it)?
Thanks.
I have an antique silver cake basket with a fox on top of the handle and faces on the four feet. It is engraved inside with flowers and philadendron leaves.
Someone gave us some antique silver cups from Berkeley Hotel in England. I know they opened in 1891 and I have been researching a little and have come up with nothing. I could not find anything like it on Ebay. Could someone please help me?
How old does it have to be to be considered antique? Thanks.
I purchased a 100 year old flask, and am weary of using it until I can be sure the inside is perfectly clean--bacteria, corosion, etc. I was thinking of using the boiling water with baking soda and aluminum foil method, followed by a rinse with white vinegar, but don't know if this is adequate. Suggestions??
Found an old silver plate drink mixer/shaker in waste bin, would like to know more about it.
The only ID marks on it are a stamp on the bottom -
WOLFF, the a "W" with a line under it, the the # 12
underneath that is 0.70 l and a "3"
(I assume that is .7 liter)
Thanks for any help
I have two female antique silver statues that I would like to verify age, maker, and value. They both have markings stamped on them . Can anyone help?
I recently bought a lighter with a nice faux-antique silver plate finish, but when I had it engraved the moron polished the damn finish off. I would like to restore it, or even take it a step further (I'm quite fond of the dirty look - I just don't want to take the silver plate off).
These are things I've tried, so do not mention them:
Saltwater
Vineagar/Lemon Juice
If anyone also knows what would do the same thing to brass, copper and or other finishes I'd like to do the same to some of my other lighter.
